Deep Tissue/Sports Massage

Sports Massage uses a variety of techniques to help remove the barriers to peak performance, speed recovery between workouts, and reduce the likelihood of over-training (under recovering).

The main characteristic of "sports massage" is that it's performed on athletes. However, since life is a stop and go sport, it's fair to say; everyone is an athlete.

Sports massage utilizes what are often considered "deep tissue" techniques such as Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release and PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) Techniques to identify and address areas of muscular imbalance, faulty movement patterns, and neuromuscular inefficiency. By identifying and treating these areas before one develops an overuse injury, over trains, or is limited in the amount of beneficial training they can do, one can expect to train harder, recover faster, and perform at their peak.

Sports massage helps the athlete gain insight into the inner workings of their bodies, building kinesthetic and proprioceptive awareness in addition to bringing to light patterns of muscular tension or overload that lurk beneath the skin.

Maintenance of the athletic body allows one to actualize their training and performance goals. Sports massage with its movement focus can help evaluate and identify weak links in the chain that could become barriers to forward progress, while providing positive reinforcement for continued training.
